A. JOB SUMMARY
To deliver comprehensive French language training, emphasizing medical and professional communication skills, to equip students with the linguistic competence required for academic advancement and professional engagement in French-speaking contexts.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and deliver engaging French language courses from beginner to intermediate levels (CEFR A1-B1).
• Develop and integrate modules on Medical French (Français médical) tailored to the needs of healthcare trainees.
• Conduct continuous assessments, mark assignments, and provide constructive feedback to facilitate student learning.
• Prepare students for recognized French language proficiency tests (e.g., DELF, DALF).
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources, including audio-visual aids and language lab software.
• Contribute to the development of the language curriculum and the selection of appropriate textbooks and learning materials.
• Foster an appreciation of Francophone cultures to enhance students’ cross-cultural communication skills.
C. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
1. A Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, Education (French), or a related field from a recognized university. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
2. A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGDE, Diploma in Education).
3. Near-native fluency in French, with certification of language proficiency at C1 level or higher (DALF C1 or equivalent).
4. A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching French as a foreign language.
5. Experience in teaching French for specific purposes, particularly in the medical or paramedical field, is a strong asset.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of the CEFR and experience with DELF/DALF examination preparation.
