A. JOB SUMMARY
To provide high-quality German language instruction to students and professionals, with a focus on medical and healthcare terminology, to prepare them for further studies, international examinations, and career opportunities in German-speaking healthcare environments.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, prepare, and deliver German language lessons aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels A1 to B2.
• Develop and implement specialized modules in Medical German (Fachsprache Medizin) for healthcare students and practitioners.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through continuous assessment tests, assignments, and mock examinations.
• Prepare students for internationally recognized German language proficiency exams (e.g., Goethe-Zertifikat, TestDaF).
• Create a dynamic and immersive learning environment using modern teaching aids and language lab resources.
• Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and curricula to meet the specific needs of healthcare trainees.
• Organize and participate in language clubs and cultural activities to enhance students’ communicative competence and cultural awareness.
C. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
1. A Bachelor’s degree in German, Linguistics, Education (German), or a related field from a recognized university. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
2. A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGDE, Diploma in Education).
3. Native or near-native proficiency in German, with certification of language proficiency at C1 level or higher (Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or equivalent).
4. At least three (3) years of proven experience teaching German as a foreign language to adults or young adults.
5. Experience in teaching German for specific purposes (e.g., medical, nursing) is highly desirable.
6. Familiarity with the CEFR framework and experience in preparing students for Goethe-Institut examinations.
