Position Overview:
As a Garde Manger Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of cold foods, including salads, charcuterie, and hors d’oeuvres. You will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen’s cold storage areas are properly maintained and that all cold food items are stored at the correct temperatures.
As a commercial Motorbike Rider cum driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting food, food items, equipment, & Staff, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries, and maintaining the motorcycle and the vehicle. This includes adhering to traffic laws, planning routes, performing basic vehicle maintenance, and providing excellent customer service. You will maintain accurate records of deliveries and fuel consumption and handle any emergencies that may arise.
As a Motorcycle Rider & MV driver, your main responsibilities include:
• Ensure timely delivery of food, food items, equipment, and staff to designated locations
• Follow delivery schedules and instructions precisely given by the logistics officer in charge of the fleet or the operations manager
• Maintain all safety and security measures for the Motorbike & vehicles assigned; Check the level of motor oil, water, tire pressure, battery water, and brakes to ensure that all are in working order on a daily basis.
• Ensure that there is a spare tire, jack, and other necessary tools; a fire extinguisher and first aid kits
• Ensure that the assigned motor bike or vehicle is clean and regularly serviced as per the schedules
• Ensure that the assigned motorbike or vehicle insurance policy is valid and that the proper procedure for insurance claims is followed in the event of an accident
• Ensure that DCL motorbikes & vehicles comply with G.o.K and County government transport regulations.
• Complete the logbook for everyday trips or specific trips, and complete the fuel log sheet for any fuel purchases
• In consultation with the Operations Manager, coordinate vehicle allocation to events and deliveries.
• Provide monthly and quarterly usage reports of vehicles including total mileage and fuel consumption
• Ensure that all vehicle trips are authorized in advance by the Operations Manager.
• Ensure that vehicle keys and documents are kept secure when the vehicle is not in use.
• Ensure proper vehicle handover while proceeding on leave or off-duty (use a handover form)
• Comply with all relevant Divine Caterers Limited policies and procedures with respect to Food handling policy, health and safety, security, and other relevant policies.
• Responsible for Divine Caterers Limited’s equipment, food, and other items’ security in the vehicle by using the most convenient, safe, and reliable routes/roads.
• Timely reporting to the Operations Manager of incidents or accidents that involve the Divine Caterers Limited assigned vehicle in your use
• Assist the administration office in dispatching and collecting delivery notes from clients and running any other errand as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications & Skills
• Must have attained the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) level.
• Valid motorcycle riding & driver’s license (Class A , B & C).
• Over 3 years of experience in a busy food production Catering Company or restaurant
• Good knowledge of Nairobi and the surrounding areas.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to use Google Maps effectively.
• Working knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation guidelines
• Fluent in speaking and writing English & Swahili.
• Must be physically fit.
