Deputy Head Teacher – Private Academy, Joska (Machakos County)
Our client, a well-established and fast-growing private academy in Joska, Machakos County, is seeking to recruit a visionary and experienced Deputy Head Teacher to join its senior leadership team. The school is known for its academic excellence, disciplined student culture, and commitment to holistic learning.
This is a strategic leadership role for a results-driven professional who can help scale the school’s operations and academic impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Teacher in overall school management, including academics, operations, and discipline.
• Lead curriculum implementation and ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
• Supervise and support teachers through mentorship, appraisals, and professional development.
• Promote a positive and disciplined school culture focused on student success and holistic growth.
• Coordinate school programs, timetables, extracurricular activities, and internal assessments.
• Oversee student performance data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Represent the school in meetings and engagements as delegated.
Key Qualifications & Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s Degree is an added advantage).
• TSC registration is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of teaching experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or deputy head role.
• Strong command of the CBC and/or 8-4-4 curriculum and curriculum delivery oversight.
• Priority will be given to candidates with leadership experience in established private schools, particularly those who have managed student populations exceeding 500 learners.
• Proven track record of academic leadership, staff supervision, and student performance improvement.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• A proactive, ethical, and visionary approach to school leadership.
